This privacy policy explains, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and supplementary German data-protection law, how personal data are processed when you visit our website or contact us.

2. General information and legal bases

We process personal data only where necessary to provide this website, handle inquiries, take pre-contractual steps, perform contracts or comply with legal obligations.

Depending on the processing, the legal basis is in particular Article 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent), Article 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract and pre-contractual steps), Article 6(1)(c) GDPR (legal obligation) or Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interests). Our legitimate interests include the secure, stable and economical operation of the website and the handling of business communications.

3. Hosting and server log data

This website is hosted by jweiland.net e.K., proprietor Jochen Weiland, Echterdinger Straße 57, Gebäude 9, 70794 Filderstadt, Germany. The provider supplies the hosting infrastructure and processes the technical connection data described below.

When the website is accessed, the hosting provider processes technically necessary connection data. These may include the IP address, date and time, requested page or file, transferred data volume, referrer URL, browser type, operating system and HTTP status.

Processing is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is the secure and reliable provision of the website, fault analysis and prevention of misuse. Log data are normally retained only as long as required for these purposes; longer retention occurs only for a security event or statutory obligations.

4. Contact by form, email or telephone

If you contact us, we process the information you provide, including your name, contact details, company, inquiry and any files, to handle your request.

Article 6(1)(b) GDPR applies where a contract or pre-contractual steps are involved. In other cases, processing is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR and our legitimate interest in appropriate communication. Where processing is based on consent, Article 6(1)(a) GDPR applies.

Inquiry data are deleted once their purpose has ended unless statutory retention obligations or legitimate reasons require continued storage. Statutory retention obligations are explained in section 10. We do not process customer data using artificial intelligence (AI).

In the contact form, name, email address, subject and message are required so that we can identify and answer the inquiry. Without the required information, the form cannot be sent. The local security question and hidden spam traps prevent automated misuse on the basis of our legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; they do not use an external CAPTCHA provider. Please do not send sensitive personal data that are unnecessary for your inquiry.

5. Cookies and browser storage

This website does not use analytics or marketing services. No consent selection is stored. If your browser still contains the entry beick_privacy_consent_v1 from the former notice, our local script removes only that obsolete entry. If browser storage is blocked, you can remove the entry through your browser settings. No value is transmitted to us or third parties.

Storage or access strictly necessary for a service you expressly request is covered by Section 25(2)(2) TDDDG. Where personal data are processed, the legal basis depends on the purpose, in particular Article 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR. Optional technologies requiring consent may only be activated after prior consent; a generic acceptance button would not replace this.

6. Local fonts and technical libraries

Fonts and frontend libraries used by this website are served locally from our own web server. Loading the website therefore does not establish a connection to Google Fonts or comparable external font providers for this purpose.

7. Internal search

When the internal search is used, the entered term is processed to display matching content. Processing is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for the requested function. Search terms are not passed to external search providers.

8. External links and maps

The address link in the footer opens Google Maps on an external website. No Google map is embedded here. Only when you follow that link does your browser connect to Google. The same principle applies to ordinary external links, including links to social networks: the destination provider processes data under its own privacy terms.

9. Recipients and transfers to third countries

Personal data are received only by parties that need them for the stated purposes. Recipients may include hosting and IT service providers, communications providers, tax advisers, payment or delivery service providers and authorities where legally required. Transfers to third countries occur only where the conditions of Articles 44 et seq. GDPR are met.

10. Retention

We store personal data only for as long as required for the respective purpose. They are then deleted or anonymised unless statutory retention duties, the establishment or defence of legal claims or other lawful reasons apply.

Where documents are subject to statutory retention obligations under Section 257 of the German Commercial Code (HGB) or Section 147 of the German Fiscal Code (AO), the retention period is generally six years for commercial or business correspondence and eight years for accounting records, including invoices. These periods begin at the end of the calendar year in which the correspondence was received or sent or the accounting record was created. Not every contact inquiry falls within these categories.

Applicable statutory exceptions and extensions, including ongoing tax proceedings, remain unaffected. Where specific data are needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims, continued storage is limited to the data and duration necessary for that purpose. These rules do not mean that all inquiries or server logs are retained for six or eight years.

11. Your rights

Subject to the statutory requirements, you have rights of access (Article 15 GDPR), rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction (Article 18), data portability (Article 20) and objection (Article 21). Consent may be withdrawn at any time for the future without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

Right to object: where processing is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, you may object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. You may object to direct marketing at any time without providing special grounds.

12. Right to complain

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for our registered office is in particular:

13. Data security and updates

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. The website is transmitted using TLS encryption. We update this policy when legal requirements, website functions or services change.
