Manufacture a replacement part from a sample.

Is a replacement part unavailable and the original drawing missing? BEICK reviews existing samples, sketches and records as the basis for a technically agreed reproduction. The shape is only part of the task: the component must fulfil its function in the installed assembly.

Typical starting points include bushes, pins, adapters, brackets and mechanical connectors. Feasibility is assessed for the specific component.

Distinguish measured from intended dimensions

What a worn sample cannot tell you.

Wear, deformation or breakage may have changed the dimensions. Simply reproducing that condition can result in a part that resembles the sample but does not work as intended. Information about mating components and installation is therefore particularly important.

  • Which surfaces guide, seal or transmit loads?
  • Which fits and connections must be retained?
  • Is the original material known?
  • What temperatures, media and loads occur?
  • Should the original condition be restored or a modification assessed?

  1. Initial review: Photos, dimensions and a fault description help identify the task.
  2. Assessment: The sample and available records are reviewed within the agreed scope.
  3. Technical clarification: Intended dimensions, material, function and outstanding features are agreed.
  4. Data preparation: Where required, a CAD model and drawing provide the manufacturing basis.
  5. Manufacture and handover: The component is made and checked within the agreed scope.

No unreviewed material substitution

Metal or polymer depends on the application.

Suitable metal components may be turned, milled and finished through additional workshop operations. FDM 3D printing may suit appropriate polymer parts. Being able to print a shape does not justify replacing a metal component with polymer.

Prepare your sample-based enquiry.

Start with photographs from several angles, approximate dimensions, machine or assembly identification and a description of the failure. Include quantity, known material information and the required date. Agree sample delivery with us in advance.
